One of the best LA art tours is approaching once again, the 20th Annual Arroyo Arts Collective DISCOVERY TOUR! On Sunday, November 18th 2012, over 100 artists in the Northeast LA Arroyo Seco neighborhood open their studios and homes to the public, for a day of  discovery and inspiration!

I went on the tour myself last year, and it was so much fun, seeing so many different artworks, and also curiously peeking into neighboring homes in the area. I even made new friends with my neighboring favorite artists that I discovered, including Gwen Freeman,  Roderick Smith, and Raoul De La Sota.

The only thing parallel to this event I’ve seen in LA is the Annual Venice Artwalk, but at only $10 – $15 tops, this is far more affordable, and parking is so much more convenient everywhere here. Also you have the option to take a shuttle bus, or drive your own route with the map in hand. Such a variety of art styles and mediums can be seen on this tour as well, perhaps buoyed by the rich cultural history of the Arroyo Seco area.

This year, I’ve joined the Arroyo Collective, and my house atop Mount Washington will also be one of the stops on the tour, featuring all of my paintings & prints! I’m so excited to be a part of it, and I think it will be a great opportunity for so many people to see my art.

Since there are SO many stops on the tour, it’s impossible to see them all! The smart thing to do is to preview the artists beforehand, which you can do online at the Arroyo Arts Collective website. Also there’s a preview party at Future Studio in Highland Park on November 10th, where a significant number of participating artists will exhibit small works, so that you can get a better idea of whose studio you’d like to visit. I highly recommend “finding your favorite flavors” beforehand, to get the most of of the tour.

If you love art, this tour is a must! I’m not even so interested in getting my acquaintance to MY house, but rather I’m recommending the tour in general as one of the most extensive art walks in LA!
