Dancing Figure Series: Part 2 of 4

Dancing Sprite in Yellow and Blue. Original oil painting on canvas, 8” x 10”, © 2012 Tiffany Davis-Rustam.

Here’s the 2nd painting in my new series of dancing figures, in what I’m sensing is a new direction in my art. As I discussed thoroughly in the Dancer series’ intro blog post, I have previously leaned towards more total abstraction, but with this mini-series has enlightened me on how I can abstract figures in an energetic way.

The initial pencil drawing is below, where I had the first breakthrough moments, before making the painting.

I hope you enjoy these leaping figure studies, and there are 2 more paintings to follow in the next 2 days. Original painting available here at my Etsy shop and print are available here.
