Previously on this blog I posted progress photos for my latest triptych, and here is the finished result, which I call “Rapture in Lyrical Blue.” I was inspired by the soaring Walt Disney Concert Hall building here in Los Angeles, designed by the epic architectural artist Frank Gehry.
Few other architects have redefined the standard building so creatively that it looks more like molded sculpture than a functional space. This makes it particularly fascinating to approach Disney Hall in person, and as you walk around it, the angles of the many organic shapes continue to change. To capture that quality, my own painting triptych depicts the edifice from several angles at once.
Thanks to those who helped with title suggestions; I decided to make a combination of offered words that I feel best suited my vision. Othersʻ interpretations of my abstracted creations never fail to delight me with new perspectives that even I hadnʻt considered. Such is the free spirit of abstract expressionism!
Iʻd like to approach Disney Hall about hanging the painting inside the building itself, as it is very much a tribute to itʻs unique beauty. Please let me know if anyone knows who I can contact about this specific site.
